Support Community Friends
More than 80 children are now on the Community Friends waitlist, all who have been referred to the program because they would benefit from the additional support, guidance and fun that a quality mentoring match provides. Community Friends Mentoring relies on community support to help us run our program. Aside from volunteering as a mentor there are many ways you can help.
Have extra tickets or gift cards? We'll take them!
With at least 48 hours notice, we almost always have a Community Friends pair who would love to take in a sports event, show, museum visit or activity. Ticket or restaurant donations often allow mentees to enjoy opportunitites that would otherwise not be available to them.
Volunteer to Help with Events and Activities
Community Friends Mentoring holds several annual events for our mentors and mentees. We rely on volunteers to help us run many of these events, and we are open to collaborating with groups or individuals who would like to help plan or coordinate mentor-mentee events for our matches. We are also very appreciative of in-kind donations or food that help make our events successful. Please contact us if you are interested. Community Friends also posts volunteer positions on the United Way website.
Private Donations
Our program has been finding quality matches for children for 29 years. When surveyed, our mentees show increased trust, a more hopeful sense of the future and healthier life choices. Your donations enable use to:
- Recruit, screen and train mentors and mentees
- Craft thoughtful, positive mentoring matches
- Provide professional support and activities for program participants
Community Friends Mentoring relies on private donations like yours to support its mentoring relationships. Your contribution to Community Friends Mentoring through HowardCenter will help a Chittenden County child gain the support and positive experiences that come from a strong mentoring relationship.
