Professional Training Series: Ethics and Mental Health Law in the Treatment of Individuals with Co-Occurring Disorders

Participants in this workshop will review the main tenets of The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act as well as 42 CFR Part 2 that comprise the cornerstones of clinical practice for health, mental health and substance abuse programs. A model of ethical decision making will be reviewed and applied to case studies. Ethical issues pertaining to the provision of emergency mental health care and crisis services will be reviewed with the goal of expanding participants understanding of current laws and practice.
