CARF Accreditation

CARF Logo

A three-year accreditation--the highest level of accreditation--was recently awarded by CARF International to HowardCenter for its Chittenden Clinic which provides methadone maintenance therapy for those individuals with opiod dependence. The Clinic is affiliated with Fletcher Allen Health Care and the University of Vermont, College of Medicine.

CARF (formerly known as the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body which establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services. CARF’s informational material explains that its “standards are rigorous, so those services that meet them are among the best available.”
