HowardCenter Artist Featured in Film and Art Exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
A film written and starred in by local artist Larry Bissonnette and a showing of his art work was featured in the Sprout Film Festival, held this past May 9 - 11 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This annual festival features films about people with developmental disabilities with the goal of promoting positive images of disability. Bissonnette, who receives support from HowardCenter Developmental Services, wrote the script for “My Classic Life as an Artist.” The film has played in a number of film festivals in both this country and abroad. In 2005, it won the Vermont International Film’s award for best short film.
Bissonnette’s works were also included in a group exhibit, Artists of HowardCenter, at the HowardCenter offices at 208 Flynn Avenue during the area’s South End Arts and Business Association’s (SEABA) annual Art Hop in early September.
