Family Respite

What is Family Respite?

Family Respite helps caregivers who provide ongoing care for an individual with a developmental disability. Through Family Respite, caregivers can arrange and pay for short-term care, so they have a break and can attend to their own needs or the needs of other family members. Family Respite can be used in planned or crisis situations.

Family Respite funds may only be used to pay a homecare provider/employee to provide direct care for an individual. Direct care providers are hired by the family that is providing ongoing care. Funds cannot be used to pay for camp or to pay an organization, agency, or facility.
