Experienced Leaders Take on New Roles at Howard Center

Howard Center is pleased to announce the appointments of Laura Pearce and Matt MacNeil as Co-Senior Directors of Client Services Operations, Quality, and Compliance. In addition, Bob Stetzel has stepped into the role of Chief Administrative Officer.

Laura Pearce joined Howard Center in 1994 after completing a master’s degree in clinical psychology at St. Michael’s College. Since then, Pearce has held both clinical and administrative roles with the agency, including as director of the First Call for Chittenden County crisis program. Laura is licensed as a clinical mental health counselor and is certified in healthcare compliance. Most recently she served as Howard Center’s Director of Information Management and Compliance.

Matt MacNeil holds master’s degrees from Saint Michael’s College and Harvard University, and a doctorate in education from the University of Vermont. A licensed clinical mental health counselor, he is chair of the Vermont Care Partners Outcomes Committee and is a member of the Agency of Human Service’s Institutional Review Board.

Bob Stetzel holds a BS in Managing Information Systems from Marlboro College. He has been a leader in business information systems since 1999, including as Vice President, Business Information Services at Yankee Candle Company in Massachusetts; Vermont Teddy Bear where he served as Vice President, Business Information and Technology; and Northern Tool and Equipment in Minnesota where he served as Senior Director, Information Systems. Bob has led Howard Center’s Information Technology department since 2016.

“Laura, Matt, and Bob are proven leaders at Howard Center and we’re fortunate to have them in their new positions,” said Sandy McGuire, Howard Center’s CEO. “All three have been with Howard Center for years and have a deep understanding of the needs of the agency and the people we serve.”

These appointments are part of a realignment of Howard Center’s leadership aimed at supporting the agency’s strategic priorities as the agency continues its 160-year legacy helping people and communities thrive.
