Howard Center’s Arts Collective kicks off Art Hop weekend with an opening reception for their Art Hop Exhibit on Thursday, September 4, from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Flynndog Gallery, 208 Flynn Avenue in Burlington.
The exhibit honors the memory of Susan M. Coates and features artwork by over 40 artists, reflecting the themes of compassion, kindness, and love. The installation is made possible through the generous contribution of the Coates family and includes work created by their cousin Marilyn Cadwell in Susan’s memory and donated by their family.
Arts Collective Coordinator Kara Greenblott says, “This is the largest exhibition the Arts Collective has ever installed with well over 100 pieces of work. The ways in which our artists have interpreted the themes of compassion and kindness are so remarkable. There is definitely something for everyone to enjoy.”
The Arts Collective welcomes artists of all levels who have lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges, via their own personal lived experience, experience with family members or friends, or through their work. Working collectively, the group promotes wellness, self-esteem, and dignity by providing opportunities and supportive connections for artists.
The reception will include light refreshments and music performed by the Rob Church Quartet. Artwork will be on display through November 4.
