Howard Center’s Mental Health Urgent Care Webinar & Open House

Virtual Public Town Hall Webinar and Public Open House and Ribbon-Cutting

Expanding mental health services to support our community

The public is invited to a virtual town hall on October 16 featuring information on the Mental Health Urgent Care opening this October in Burlington.

With funding from the University of Vermont Medical Center and the Vermont Department of Mental Health, Howard Center, UVM Medical Center, Community Health Centers, and Pathways Vermont have come together to offer a therapeutic alternative to emergency department care – a welcoming mental health urgent care where individuals will be assessed in a timely manner and have access to supportive follow-up services, immediate peer support, and medical care in a trauma-informed, suicide-safe setting.

The virtual town hall will be held via Zoom on October 16 at 6:00-7:30 p.m. There will be a presentation by the project managers Charlotte McCorkel (Howard Center) and Maureen Leahy and Karen Vastine (University of Vermont Medical Center).

The event will be presented in a webinar format and registration is free but required. To register visit this link.

Scheduled to open on October 28, Mental Health Urgent Care will serve adults 18 and over seeking immediate support or in self-defined crisis.

Prior to the opening, there will be a public open house and ribbon-cutting on October 21 from 3 – 7 p.m. with remarks at 3:15 p.m. followed by guided program tours at 1 South Prospect Street, Arnold Building, 4th Floor in Burlington. Parking is free and available onsite. Please RSVP if you are planning to attend by emailing DevelopmentTeam@howardcenter.org.
