National Life Group Foundation Grant Supports Howard Center’s Suicide Prevention & Education Project

The National Life Group Foundation recently awarded Howard Center with a grant of $5,000 to help support the printing and distribution of our updated Suicide PreventionAcross the Lifespan guide.

The guide is designed to provide general, public health information on suicide prevention, risk factors, warning signs, and helpful phone numbers for individuals; families, including parents and caregivers; community members; and professionals, including educators and medical provides who live and/or work in Chittenden County.

Charlotte McCorkel, LICSW, Senior Director of Client Services at Howard Center noted that, “With suicide rates rising in Vermont and the U.S. it’s essential that we make public health resources available to our community and eliminate stigma around mental health and suicide. We are very grateful to the National Life Foundation Group for their support in helping to make these free guides available to our community.”

According to Beth Rusnock, President of the Foundation, “The work Howard Center does to bring awareness and support to our neighbors who are struggling is critical to the health of our entire community. National Life is proud to help with this cause.”
