Howard Center was presented with a $15,000 donation from the South Burlington Rotary Club, raised during the curling fundraiser held this spring. The event also raised money for other community organizations.
The annual day-long event at Cairns Arena featured over 30 teams competing for the top prize, as well as awards for best team name, most creative costume, and most spirited team.
The Green Mountain Curling Club provided instruction and equipment for the participants. The event encourages community involvement, with local businesses, schools, and community groups taking part in the competition and spectators gathering to support the cause.
“This event is an example of how collaborative efforts can enhance our community’s well-being,” said Mike Keller, a South Burlington Rotary Club member and Curling Classic organizer. “We are proud to host this event, which not only raises essential funds and awareness for local organizations, like Howard Center, but also promotes team spirit and camaraderie among the participants, many who are playing on behalf of their company or organization while doing something good for the community,” he added.
Howard Center’s Director of Development and Communications, Denise Vignoe, expressed gratitude for the Rotary Club’s support: “We are grateful for the ongoing support of the South Burlington Rotary Club. Their generosity and partnership enable us to continue helping our community thrive.”
The South Burlington Rotary Club will begin planning for the 2026 event this fall.
