Using a Preferred Interpreter

However, we strongly discourage this due to concerns about confidentiality, privacy, and accuracy. If the client insists, staff must:

  • Inform the client that a professional interpreter is available free of charge.
  • Document the request in the client’s health record.

Children and other residents are not permitted to provide interpretation to ensure accurate communication and confidentiality.
